User guide on Ethno-Veterinary Practices
User guide on Ethno-Veterinary Practices
Authors : Prof N Punniamurthy, Dr M N Balakrishnan Nair & Dr Kumar S K
This user's guide is the result of collaboration between folk healers, Ayurvedic physicians efforts from various Universities and farmers. Integrating ethno-veterinary practices to veterinary profession is a viable solution considering today's intensified dairy farming for maximum production of milk, using exotic breeds, high disease incidence and use of antimicrobial and other chemical drugs are growing. The excessive and indiscriminate use of antibiotics in animal production has led to antibiotic residues in the milk and other animal products, and antibiotic resistant microorganisms, these are causing severe problems in human health and the environment.
